Of course, I preface this by saying most posts here have been negative.  Further, Consumer Reports just panned Cingular in it's most recent issue.  I was with AT&T but did NOT port over to Cingular.  I let my contract lapse and got new Cingular fones (2) for us both from a private Cingular dealer store.  The first one, a RazrV3, failed within a couple of days and the store replaced it with a brand new one sealed in the box for me without question.  Since then it has been perfect.  Lately the Samsung one (427m) failed and this time I called Cingular and had a replacement in my hands in less than 48hrs for which they paid the return s/h on the defective one.  I have not had a single complaint.  Recently, the 3GB data plan for $9.99 became 5GB without my knowledge.  I went over and called Cingular for which they put me on the 5GB plan which is the same price and refunded the overage charges as well.  I know the horror stories are there.  I saw them when I got the fones.  I knew about the troubles porting over from ATT, so I decided to do it the other way resulting in discounts and 1 free fone.  The store loaned me a fone to check for coverage at my home as I am in a rural area.  They also sell the other ones (Verizon, TMobile, Nextel) but none had any signal where I lurk...so I went with Cingular with a heavy heart.  It all had to go in my wife's name since I was an ATT customer up to the day I got Cingular which was the exact end of my ATT contracts...so what!!  I am the sole satisfied customer, I suppose...

Holy CRAP!!!   There is ONE STORE in the world that does it RIGHT . . . that
is, they let you take home a handset (to test the network) before signing
the contract.  I'm IMPRESSED.  Too bad the way it SHOULD work is what almost
never happens . . .

No, you aren't the only satisfied cingular customer.  I was happy with them
for the two years that I could use them.  Due to job changes, I had to
switch to Verizon.  So far (knock on wood) I'm somewhat happy on Verizon
also.  -Dave

There are actually quite a few satisfied customers.  You have to remember that
people mostly post when they have something to bitch about or (in a few
notable cases) an axe to grind.  Satisfied customers tend to have better
things to do with their time.
