Supposedly, the 6682 has issues with the new UICC cards (3G SIM, sort of).
All the UICCs I've seen so far are from Gemplus, and ALL of the Gemplus 64k
SIMs have just been recalled because they seem to be causing a lot of
dropped calls, and other software problems with all(?) phone models.
(Anyone that has a Gemplus 64k SIM, should be able to get a replacement,
free, BTW) Since they've been chasing problems related to the Gemplus SIMS
since the 64k SIMs first appeared (crashes the TREO 650, causes lockups in
the MPx220, and others admitted to), I can't help but wonder if the problems
with the 6682 and the older 6230, weren't related to the same issues.
However, has anyone else noticed that since the demise of the GAIT phones,
Cingular has been aggressively pushing Motorola, Sony Ericsson, Samsung, LG,
even Siemens for a short time, while not selling Nokias that are in use
around the world and even pricing Nokias higher than other brands of phone
with even higher cost per unit? (Official price for the 6010 is 29.99 - cost
86.00; Nokia 6102 is 99.99 - cost 150.00; Razr 99.99 after rebate - cost
260.00) Can you say "market manipulation"...?

Can you actually say "getting a better deal from those other vendors."

Nokia 6682

plucked before ripe!
Based on the cingular branded 6682.
cingular released this phone before their restrictive firmware wa
fully functional. As a result, a perfectly wonderful phone can prove t
be a right pain.
With a new plan and a 64k sim, users report loss of call logs an
repeated attempts by the phone to copy sim contacts. With a 32k sim,
have problems with the phone switching off by itself. This is possibl
a failsafe for the battery discharging when it can't connect. But it'
happened while the phone is on the nightstand AND it's not somethin
you can control. So if your daily drive takes you through a ba
reception area you might find your phone has switched off. In fact i
will switch off without warning.
The bluetooth headset/handsfree settings don't work with a lot o
headsets. So handsfree becomes hands on if you want to converse using
headset. What's the point?
Cingular have made other adjustments to the firmware to furthe
restrict options like how photos you shoot can be sent.
The end result is a phone that has been removed from stores. Th
reasons given address new features not old faults.
As a symbian series 60 based smartphone, this is an excellent device
The pictures are great in comparison to what 'your last phone' coul
produce.
If it had worked when it was released it would have been a favorite. A
it is, there's new & better models just around the corner and the 668
may have missed it's 15 minutes of fame courtesy of cingular
