"It's amazing what two years on the rim can do to you." (Capt.

I never claim to be an expert but since I have been using Ringo, I have not
seen any indication that it is using a third party software. I thought (I
very well could be wrong) that Ringo was a stand alone software. I know that
my TREO 650 came with Realplayer installed. If Ringo uses Realplayer in the
background, I was not aware of it.

Does Ringo allow you to use different tones for different callers? Phone
Technician says it won't do that.

Ringo allows you to assign different ringtones to different calling numbers.
It also allows you to add a picture to the calling number.
Now sounding like John Navas "Google is your friend"
I just did a quick search for "ringo for treo" and the first hit on the list
lead to this link. Basic description with some screen shots.

The Treo 650 contacts list allows you to do that second one natively.

I was just looking at Ringo on my TREO and remembered one thing I did not
like about it. Ringo does not use your internal directory. When you assign a
ringtone you must enter a name and number. It would be so much easier if you
could go through you internal directory and assign ringtones.

There is a program that is called LightWav that does this.

I tries Ringo & it seemed to work okay with one exception. I used my own
mp3 as a tone & when the phone rings Rino only plays 2 or 3 seconds of the
sound & loops repeatedly. Is there a setting to adjust this?

Do you have any other MP3 player installed?

Realplayer came pre-installed but the answer to your question is no. I have
not installed any other MP3 players and I am not aware of any pre-installed
programs
