Roadside assistance?

I have had roadside assistance for about 2 years.  It seemed pretty good
that it works on any car as long as I have my phone.

I used it today for the first time.  The tow truck said it doesn't cover
accidents and charged me $75.
I tried to call Cingular about this, but they are not open on weekends!

So it only provides coverage when I don't have a problem?
I guess I am just venting; but this just seems like they are stealing my
money.

You were involved in a crash with a tow truck?

Ted,

I have used the Roadside Assistance to tow a vehicle which would not
start and was not charged a fee.

Call Cingular when they are open and submit a copy of the bill; they
will probably reimburse you.  I had to cancel my Cingular assistance
because they were useless--waited 3 hours for a tow truck they called
which never came, then finally called one on my own and got it in 15
minutes.

I have signed up for AAA.  They cover accidents, and are half the price of
Cingular.

My phones are next; contract expired last month.

Thanks for pointing this out.  I called Cingular and spoke to a person
who went off the line for a little while and then claimed that Roadside
Assistance would in fact cover towing in case of an accident.  However,
I also checked the actual Roadside Assistance fine print at
   http://www.cingular.com/download/roadside_assistance.pdf
and it agrees with you:  "Towing service is for mechanical failure
only. (Each service call is limited to a maximum cost of $50.00)"

So I'll be cancelling and signing up for a different service, probably
