How to get readable phone?

Our Family Plan with Cingular uses a Nokia 6010 and grand-daughter's is a
V551.
The Nokia is very difficult to read and impossible outdoors. Yes, we are
seniors, but we read other things without difficulty.
Cingular says we cannot upgrade to a better phone until Sept of 2006.
We are willing to pay for a phone with a more readable display, but will not
signup for another two years.
What do you recommend?

I am impressed with the clarity of the screen on the V551.
You didn't say what you think of it.

Go to Ebay & get a new V551.

The v551 is surprisingly crisp and easy to read, but Bill already has
access to one of those, so I guess he's looking for something else.

I should have been more clear in my request. The V551 that grand-daughter
uses is fine. The Nokia 6010 that WE use is the one giving trouble.
My question is where can I buy a replacement phone without starting a new
contract that will work on our present service?
Will the SIM from the Nokia 6010 work in a the new phone?
Is eBay a reliable source for such a purchase?

Ask at your Cingular store if they will sell you one.  I'm guessing they
will sell you one for full price without needing a new contract.

Ah, okay.  So maybe you'd like to buy a v551.

I've never done that.  You could buy a phone from Cingular with no
contract, but that's probably the most expensive route.  Maybe you are
eligible for a Cingular "upgrade".  I don't worry about contracts, as I
expect to be continuing service for a long time anyway.

Amazon.com has the v551 for negative $75.01 with new service.

Any Cingular SIM should work in either a locked Cingular v551, or an
unlocked v551.

"eBay" doesn't sell anything.  Is a particular eBay vendor reliable?

The Nokia 6010 is the only model they have that has the poor screen.  Check
out the Nokia 3220 for a similar phone with a bright screen.  I have both of
these phones.
