Usually everyone complains about how expensive their cellphone bill
are. I recently saw a posting about an outrageous $8,900 bill.

Well I'm posting because I SAVED money. I'm new to Cingular and I sa
an article on Gigaom about a new service called Cellfire (currentl
only offered to Cingular users). It lets you download coupons on you
cellphone. I used it and I saved a bunch of money on a bunch of regula
purchases. I guess it's just another perk for being a Cingular user.

Which cell phone service will be the next one you come in here to shill
for?  How much are you earning for all the site visits your post here is
expected to generate?

I was posting purely because I wanted to share with everyone m
discovery. I am not making ANY money from this. If you don't believe m
why don't you send a message to Om Malik, the owner of Gigaom. I'
appreciate if you'd check your facts before you start pointing fingers
It's people like you that destroy these forums

Your discovery?  'skooze me?  Let's talk about destruction for a moment
shall we?  Let's talk about how you come in here posting about some
shitbird gobshite coupons AND shilling the website no less, claiming how
it's some kinda B.I.G deal that you saved a coupla bucks.  Well Hoo Rah!
And no, I'm not sending any email to some gigaom bozo, because as far
as I'm concerned, you two are both in this together.  The forum you
claim to be soooo concerned about isn't intended to be used by a bunch
of coupon shysters shilling anonymously about something that has zero to
do with Cingular.  If anybody needs to be checking facts...

Oh and by the way Mr. Clueless, the next time you think it's helpful to
use tinyurl, do the right thing and also post the real url along with
your contracted one.  This way, if anyone really buys into your shill,
they'll at least have a clue about who they're exposing themselves to
before clicking, not after.  It's a common courtesy thing intended to
avoid shills like yours, some of us know better, and now the rest of us
do.  Consider this your first lesson for 2006.  Take notes Grasshopper.

People like "jer"?  You mean long term fairly knowledgable
people who actually contribute to a forum?

I think you have it backward, it is more likely
people who just drop into a forum with their
fake "I just found a great site" posts who litter the
place up for the rest of us.

Yes, EXCUSE you jer.

First of all, I'm sorry that we are not all as rich as you but to som
people, saving a "coupla" of bucks actually means something.

Second, It has everything to do with Cingular. It's a service that
currently only offered to Cingular users. You won't see anyone else o
another service using it.

Third: You know what? I am concerned about the forum. Let's review wha
happened. I make a post that I believe will help out people usin
Cingular. You come on and start FLAMING away, making a blind claim tha
I'm not legit, you insult me by calling me a spammer, and if that wer
not enough, you called your buddy for back up so that he can flame m
too.

YOU COULD HAVE posted nicely saying that it was spam-like so I coul
have adjusted the post or even nicely requested that I remove it. Bu
instead you choose to flame me and leave your "common courtesy" behind

I want to make this clear to everyone. *I am not part of any referra
service and I am not making any money posting to a personal weblog. *

Because jer has been -so courteous -  :screwy:  I will remove the lin
to the blog. I apologize to any of you who may have felt you wer
duped. Rest assured that you were NOT taken advantage of. I will leav
the rest of the post there because I believe others may still b
interested in knowing that this service is available to them. Howeve
if I get the general consensus that people do not appreciate my post,
will GLADLY remove it. NO FLAMERS REQUIRED.

As for jer and your buddy, don't lecture me on common courtesy when yo
are the ones calling names and making false accusations the entire time
For 2006, you can add "grow up" to your long list of new year'
resolutions.

To everyone else, happy new year! And I apologize that you all had t
witness this atrocity

If you think Cingular (or anyone else for that matter) is giving up
something with coupons, think again.  Put your google finger to work and
learn about the business model that supports a coupon program.  There
ain't no free lunch.

I made no comment regarding the service, my comments were restricted to
your mention of a shill website hidden behind a contracted url.

BF and I aren't confederates - we are both entitled to have a personal
opinion, and express that opinion in a public forum such as this - just
as you are.  As far as insulting spammers or shills, insulting is only
where it starts - it ends when we see flames.

> YOU COULD HAVE posted nicely saying that it was spam-like so I could

I offer no quarter to spammers and shills, and I don't care whether they
like it or not.

> I want to make this clear to everyone. *I am not part of any referral

I want to make this clear to everyone - it's only his tattered opinion,
which is worth exactly what we paid for it.

I tell you what... in the future, if you want to avoid looking like a
shill, have the courtesy to post a message asking if anyone is
interested in information about a service - no urls.  If someone
responds, you're welcome to post again with more specific information,
including a real url and a contracted one if you think it would be
helpful.  In your original message, you identified your reference as an
article, which for most people infers a commercial website - without the
real url, we have no way to know.  If it's a blog full of adhoc
opinions, say so.

I don't expect you or anyone else to really know this, but I'm commonly
courteous to almost everyone.  When it comes to a cold post in a public
forum that has rotten shill written all over it, my usually courteous
nature gets a vacation.  I likened your original post to me waking up
early one morning to find a billboard freshly planted on my street, so I
figured it deserved a lit match.

We'd be a lot happier if spammers and shills were all dead.

Just how is being able to view a coupon on your wireless phone going to
save you any money?  What is a cashier supposed to do with an image on
your phones screen?  How does he send it in to the manufacturer for
reimbursement?

And - to be fair about what is really going on here - you have got to admit
that with the NUMEROUS posts that you have made in other areas on the
internet:
www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?goto=lastpost&t=807020
www.phonescoop.com/forums/forum.php?ff=4
http://forum.mpedia.com/i_saved_money_by_using_my_cingular_phone-vt16354.html
http://www.phoneobsessed.com/ftopic32337.php

And saying pretty much the same thing (in some cases verbatim) then one has
to wonder if  you Do have a vested interest in the coupon "deal" or you have
so much free time on your hands that you can spend the time to re-enter all
of these posts about this topic.

Someone pull out your Webster and give us "Shill".  Wait - I will do it.
(stolen from dictionary.com)

shill    ( P )  Pronunciation Key  (shl) Slang n.
One who poses as a satisfied customer or an enthusiastic gambler to dupe
bystanders into participating in a swindle.

v. shilled, shill·ing, shills
v. intr.
To act as a shill.

v. tr.
To act as a shill for (a deceitful enterprise).
To lure (a person) into a swindle.

[Perhaps short for shillaber.]

Uhhh... mpedia and phoneobsessed are the EXACT SAME THING a
cellphoneforums.net. They are EXACT replicas of what is going on here
I'm sorry but I don't have time to go and copy EVERYONE'S reply an
recreate the entire discussion there.

I POSTED TWICE. Howard and Cellphoneforums. The ONE post on Howar
which was admittedly similar to this one but only because I check th
forum there regularly. You didn't mention my other posts:

http://tinyurl.com/9lla6
http://tinyurl.com/d6bra
http://tinyurl.com/8pfe5

Check the dates. I AM JUST A REGULAR USER. PLEASE STOP MAKING ME LOO
LIKE A CRIMINAL. I'M SORRY FOR TRYING TO HELP EVERYONE SAVE SOME MONEY
I THOUGHT IT WAS A GOOD IDEA
g36csti - 03 Jan 2006 11:11 GMT
I think I see why people have been mislead. I visited the other forum
mpedia and phoneobsessed (the replicas) and the links show up a
http://tinyurl.com/xxxxx. I did NOT post that. I put a direct link t
gigaom.com/xxxx but for some reason they don't show up like that.
This was the link:
"hxxp://gigaom.com/2005/12/26/santa-brought-some-web-20-goodies"

Gigaom is a personal blog of a writer for Business 2.0.

I did not intentionally try to mask the link at all. For those of yo
who don't believe me, try posting the link yourself o
cellphoneforums.net and check out one of the replica sites
