Hello,
I found the instructions on how to extend the ring time for a call to go to
voicemail.  It says to enter my voicemail # (not my cell phone #).  It said
to find my voicemail # to do a query, but it doesn't say how to do a query.
How do I do a query on a black V3 Razr?
TIA

Thanks but that is the site that told me how to change the ring duration and
to do a query to find my VM # but again, it doesn't say how to *DO* a query!
Does anyone here know how to do a query on the Razr V3?
Thanks again in advance.

I just checked, and it does tell how to do a query.  Using that information,
I was able to check then change my duration.

Perhaps it was recently updated.

Query is the 3rd command.

This info has been in the section since it was created.

Try here:
http://web.telia.com/~u47904776/gsmkode.htm

You can set the delay up to 30 seconds before it will go to diversion
(forward, voice mail, etc).

You would probably want to do **61**30# SEND  to change to 30 seconds.

*#61# will show you the current voice mail number (where your calls go
if you don't answer). This varies, and you should not it before
messing around too much with the settings.

Also remember to enter your number as 1xxxyyyzzzz  which is the
"international" represenation of a North American number, or if you
enter a number in the gsm codes.
DotCom - 01 Feb 2006 01:57 GMT
I tried this and it did go to voicemail but it didn't show the number.
I did go to the call log and I found it there and went to view, but it
showed my cell number not the voicemail number.
So that's not the right number I need to do the duration string is it?

Uhm.. you're on a TDMA Cingular phone - one without a SIM module?

Those codes only work on GSM phones.

If this is any help, the FastForward units were marketed in this area
since at least 2 years ago.

Try this:

Dial *61*+voicemail number*11*30# and then send/dial key

To make the plus sign(+) you hold down the zero (0) key and it changes into
the plus sign. The "30"  above is the amount of seconds you want it to ring
before going to voicemail.

Example for my phones (will ring for 25 seconds): *61*+14403820777*11*25#
then press the green phone/send/dial key

Since I can't even to a query, don't know what the destination number
woud be.

My bad, shame on me.

Obviously, you don't have voicemail? Have you checked with customer
service?

Phone rings..I don't answer it...callers leave a voice message... I dial
1 [Send] and get the voice message.

Obviously I have something other than voice mail, huh?  :)

Since you want to extend ring time b/4 going to VM, how do you retrieve
your VM?
DotCom - 01 Feb 2006 01:46 GMT
ok this is still not working for me.
I can't do a query.
I get a message saying "Unknown Application"
So I went to the cingular site and looked up my minute useage and it listed
a number that said it was my voicemail number so I used that in the string
as my destination number but what is happening now is that the ring duration
does set to 30 as I had entered, but when i (or anyone else) calls my number
it doesn't let them leave a message.  It just assumes it's me calling and
askes me if i want to check my messages.  I think I saw something like
"forwarded sent" after I entered the string and hit send.
I am assuming here that I still must be entering the wrong "destionation"
(voicemail) number.
Any adivce?

***FINALLY***
The problem was in finding the correct voicemail #.
None of the suggestions here as to how to find your true voicemail number
worked for me.
Perhaps because this is a brand new Razr V3 ordered online from Cingular?
DUNNO.
Trying all of the different supposed voicemail numbers did extend the time
but left my callers unable to leave me a message.
It wasn't until I found the *correct* query to find my true voicemail
number.
(***John Navas, your query string "*#61*11#[SEND]" did not work for me.)***
Upon visiting the Howard forums I did find a post from someone having the
same problem as I.
He suggested trying the following query which did give me yet another
completely different voicemail number from the ones I had thought were my
correct number but didn't work and left my phone unable for callers to leave
a message.
The query that worked for me is:
*#62#
When I now used that voicemail number for the destination number and set the
ring duration to what I wanted, it now worked fine!  FINALLY!
For those trying to set longer ring times, it is crucial to enter the
correct voicemail number or your phone will not work properly.
I hope this this helps someone else and avoids the problems and hair pulling
I have just encountered.

One important thing to remember when altering the ring time.  When you set
the time to 30 or greater then when your phone rings and gets to the 30
second mark you will be charged 1 minute of time for the ringing.

You are charged for incoming calls only if you answer and you are
charged if you answer no matter how short the duration of ringing.
The incoming wireless caller is charged for at least one minute if
the call is answered by voice mail whether set for five seconds or
thirty seconds.  If he hangs up before voice mail answers or before
thirty seconds, whichever  comes first, there is no charge to him.
By the same token, if you call a landline which has no voice mail or
answering machine, you will be charged for all the ringing time when
the person finally answers the phone.  It is better for you to let
the phone ring about twenty seconds and redial immediately.  If you
wait too long to redial, the called party will go back to what they
were doing and be too far away again. It could anger the person on
the other end so don't tell them that you just called a few seconds
ago.
