Mini SD card in Audiovox SMT 5600

I am considering acquiring this smartphone. The specs say that the storage
can be upgraded to 1 GB by way of a mini SD card. However, the review in PC
Magazine states that the unit can accept cards up to 256 MB. Can anyone
confirm that the phone accepts cards larger than 256MB?

1 gb sandisk card works fine in mine, never a problem.
