I stopped by the Mall of Louisiana Cingular store, not expecting to find
anything but the standard boring TDMA phones. They've been promising
GSM for months and months. AND I COULDN'T BELIEVE IT! There are GSM
phones everywhere! HAHA! GSM is obviously online in Baton Rouge. Now
I'm doing my homework online to find which handset I want.

Followup:

When I went back to the "main" Cingular store to get a new handset,
there was a sign on the door, warning about extensive network outages
with the new network, dropped calls, limited coverage, non working
caller id, etc.

I turned around and left. I'm going to wait to get a GSM handset when
things settle down. Don't need more frustration in my life. :-)
