when is cingular going to roll out GSM in the Dallas/Ft.Worth, Texas
area. Im sick of the lousy TDMA service. Most of the Phones currently
offerred here in Dallas by Cingular suck. except for maybe 2 of them. im
thinking of getting the Motorola C353T phone with color screen, but dont
want to if Cingular will be upgrading to GSM/EDGE by the end of the
year. Someone please tell me?????

"lousy TDMA service"? Hope you mean TDMA in general not having all the
bells and whistles that GSM has and not that the service is lousy.
Cingular's TDMA service in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area is one of the best
systems in the country. I've got Cingular for personal phone but the
office uses ATTWS -- there is never a day that goes by that someone
isn't complaining about dropped calls, garbled calls, calls that go
nowhere, calls that go directly to voice mail, etc etc. -- all happening
with multiple phones from multiple manuf. Bet I could count on one hand
the number of bad calls I've had on Cingular in YEARS. As for other
carriers, Nextel in DFW is a joke (cellular wise--not 2way) as is
Sprint. T-Mobile apparently works good in the areas it works at all.
Verizon is the only other carrier I'd even consider in DFW.

As for when the GSM rollout is going to be--I've heard everything from
today (so far NOT) to 10/1. Guess it will happen when it happens.

I recall having posted about GSM for today. Having lunch, I was told
another week, or two. They didn't elaborate why. :(

A follow up..... I heard again today that GSM rollout in DFW will be
next Tuesday Sept 30. Anybody wanna cross their fingers?
