I have a v3x that is 3 (some Italian carrier) branded, I'm on Cingular and I
can't get my MediaNet to work right. I can do almost everything except MMS
and MediaNet. I got all the settings from the Cingular site and verified it
with my sisters unbranded w800 which works! I was looking thru the strings on
here and see that there is a recurring problem with this. Is the download on
here gonna straighten me out, or am I going to have to have Cingular to flash
it?

So you can get on media net but can't send a MMS? Check your "MMS" settings.
Cingular flash it? They won't. It's not a Cingular device. I miss the OTA
service that we had when we were blue.

This is a common problem with unbranded Motorola phones. See the following
thread for clues.

Go here and configure your V3x.  Use the motorola V3 settings for MMS
and Media net.  I have an unbranded unlocked pink razr for my wife that
I had to set up.

Once you have the correct configurations launch the browser and got to
http://mini.opera.com and download and install this java browser it's
much better than the media net browser.

For some things, but WAP works much better than the Web for things with WAP
support, like Google Mail.

I recently asked about using this phone on Cingular on this forum an
was SHOT down.  So as a user of the V3X on cingular, how does it wor
being only a triband not quadband?  Also when you get the Media Ne
working, do you plan on tethering to a laptop?  If so let us know ho
the speeds work

I have a regular V3 not the V3X so to comment on the usage if it's only
triband you will only be able to use the 1900 mhz band which is limited
depending on the market that you are in.  In PA most of the network is
850 but in AZ, NV, and CA most of the network is 1900.  So if you are
in a market where there is little or no 1900 towers your service will
be spotty and very limited.

I've used my regular V3 to tether and it's slightly faster than dial up
however I've used my V551 and it's was faster.  As for the V3x I
believe that has the UMTS service so if you are in a market with UMTS
you should get pretty good speeds.

I used Cingular's communication manager program to tether but Moto
Phone tools seemed to work better for me.

>I've used my regular V3 to tether and it's slightly faster than dial up

That's because it only has GPRS, not EGPRS(EDGE), much less UMTS.

>however I've used my V551 and it's was faster.

Because it supports EGPRS(EDGE), albeit not the fastest form of EGPRS.

>As for the V3x I

No, because it doesn't support the UMTS band used by Cingular.  Also doesn't
support EGPRS(EDGE), so it won't be any faster than the regular V3, slower
than the V551.

Windows DUN (dial-up networking) is all that's needed.  See the FAQ below.

I am also using a V3x on cingular and I cannot for the life of me
configure it to work for Internet and MMS.  I have found all the
settings and tried to configure but the browser simply won't connect.
I can't seem to add an MMS server so that doesn't appear to be an
option on the front end.

Did you ever have any luck solving this?

Hello, I am having the same issues you described. Did you ever get it
resolved?
