Its nice to see carriers finally looking at a different approach (i.e.
fewer dropped calls and better coverage), but its less profitable than
the fancy stuff (i.e. ringtones for the under 30s crowd).

Like I have posted in the far past...In Texas, carriers make 90% to 95%
(or whatever number the industry magazines reported) in three core areas
- San Antonio, Houston, and Dallas/Fort Worth. Offering fancy stuff in
just those areas and dropping the rest of Texas would be a wise move
(somewhat sarcastically speaking). T-Mobile is doing fine and doesn't
have the statewide deployment like the big three.

Its a hard call to make. Concentrate on the more numerous low end plans
or less numerous high end plans. Using the hypothetical assumption kids
have lower cost plans than business users.
