I've been waiting for Cingular to release the Motorola V3I but it seems
like it's forever being postponed.

Does anyone have a handle on the real release date and what may be
holding it up on Cingular? I hope is not just because they have a
gazillion V3's in stock that need to be sold.

Thank you

If you're really anxious to get it, the best bet is to buy an unlocked
specimen from a third party, like a reputable eBay seller. I don't see the
point of waiting and waiting for Cingular to finally start selling last
year's models based on their own priorities. Honestly ... the phones that
REPLACE the V3i have already been FCC approved and prototypes are already
for sale by some "cutting edge" dealers.

Not sure anxious is the correct word, just don't want to pay Cingular's
about to be implemented fee for the privilege of using my current fully
functional TDMA phone. My concern with purchasing a V3i on the net are
features on the V3i are configurable (Itunes or the Motorola player as
an example) and I may end up with something that does not work with
Cingular when they finally if ever support this phone.

So what would you purchase now if you were replacing a V3i?

Thank you

Depends on why I were replacing it. If I lost a V3i and needed a fast
replacement, I'd probably get another.

If I were looking to upgrade/update, I'd wait for the early reviews on
the KRZR K1 or the RIZR Z3.  Of course, there also is the 5-band
(quad-band GSM plus 2100 MHz UMTS) V3maxx.
