With any phone upgrade either GSM or TDMA cingular charges an $18
upgrade processing fee as do most other compaies, except most other
companies do not let existing customers receive the price on the shelf
in the store.....ie tmobile has a special price list on a per customer
basis, this prices includes a $19.99 upgrade processing fee

AT&T Wireless does not charge their $15 dollar upgrade prossessing fee
when customers buy GSM phones. For now, that is. :)

In some markets upgrading to the GAIT phone also allows waiver of the $18
upgrade fee.
