My Sony Ericsson Z525a came with a bunch of pre-installed services in
the address book. Can anyone tell me which are free, and which cost
money? I just have the barebone rollover plan, no text messages, no
data.

*225# check bill balance
411 directory assistance (I know this one costs money)
#43 musicID (what is this?)
*729 pay my bill
*646# view my minutes
*08 voice connect (what is this?)

I already tried the View My Minutes, and it sends me a text message.
Will I be charged for receiving the text message, or is this an
exception?

Instead of pointing people to the FAQ, John, why not just answer the
question.?
I'll answer what I believe to be pay per use and free
Any of the star (*) numbers are free
Star(*)08 is akin to voice dialing.
#43 allows you to dial the number and you'll be given the song and artist
411 is a pay per use.  $!@! is the information number

Instead of knee-jerk flaming, Andy, why not just read what I posted
(which includes a direct link to the authoritative Cingular webpage).

"When someone is hungry, it serves them better to teach them how to grow
their own food, rather than just giving them a one-shot handout."

Instead of acting like a pompous a.s, Johnny Novice, why not simply answer
the yes/no question that was originally asked?

You have to comprehend in order to teach, which automatically disqualifies
you as a teacher.  People can not learn from parrots or google pasters.

Looks like Voice Dial (*08) costs $4.99 (!) per month.
