I'm on the old Home 75 plan with free nationwide long distance.  For some
reason, they keep charging me for the toll calls even when I'm in my home area
100% of the time.  I have to call customer service and ask them for toll charge
credit every month.  Apparently, my account is not coded right.  Has anyone
experienced the same problem?

YES! :(

Next time you talk to C/S, have them check to make sure that long distance
is still on your account. I've had several customers that had the long
distance "expired". There are 2 feature codes; one for Home L/D and one for
Roam L/D. Both need to be on your account.

The 75 minute plan did NOT include LD. So local only.
Need to be on the 50min plan. Some of those included N&W but they DID
include LD.
Also the 75 min plan was local only not even statewide. So if you
drive out your local calling area you WILL be charged Roaming. Should
be about 35cents instate and 79cents out. LD will be a additional
15cents.

Go to a store and ask them to help.
Cingular's customer service department is completely worthless.  I got an
improper bill for 5 months; each month they said they would fix it.  The guy
at the store got it done.

I had a big problem with Cingular billing and customer service when I
upgraded my phones and service plan. The total bill that month was
over $200, which was way too high by any accounting. The bill was 14
pages long and I poured over it for some time, trying to figure out
how the accounting was done. Then I called customer service and
explained that the old and new calling plans were supposed to cost
about the same ($70) and that the new phones were supposed to cost $25
plus $10 to activate each. Both the old and new plans were supposed to
be pro-rated so that the service was not paid for twice. Customer
Service said the bill was entirely correct but that I could write a
letter to the president. I did so and got a call in about two weeks
whereupon I was refunded over $100. What a pain!

You can write to the president yourself at:

Cingular
Office of the President
17000 Cantrall Rd.
Little Rock, AR, 72223

I recommend a short polite letter that includes a copy of your bill
with the charges in question highlited.

Cheers,

Jonathan.

Thanks for the address as I may need it (hopefully not). On Sep1st I
received 2 cards in the mail offering a free phone upgrade for a new
contract since mine was ending on Oct 1st. I went to three Cingular (owned)
stores in my area and was told by both that there would be no upgrade
charges, the existing 2,333 rollover minutes balance would apply to the new
contract and they would waive the activation fee since I wanted to add a
third number with the Family Talk Nation GSM plan. My monthly bill would
decrease from $95 with 2 phones to $85 with 3 phones. Well, my first bill
was $246.20. I was charged $115 for overage minutes, $18 upgrade fee and an
$18 activation fee. I dreaded calling Cust Service but I had the best ever
representative (Sandy) and she cleaned it up and was very apologetic and
courteous. I still am unsure whether or not our Nokia 3595 phones will work
when we travel out of the GSM coverage area. Two stores told me they would
not work outside the GSM system, one store and two Cust Serv reps assured me
that they will work. We shall see.....I stay with Cingular because they are
the only one that I get some signal at my home since the local towns have
not allowed any towers in the area. I had AT&T which never had service here,
my friends have T-Mobile, Sprint and Nextel who also never have service in
my area. My son has Verizon and ends up using our phones 80% of the time at
home. The one salesman was right though about GSM and connecting with only
one signal bar and still having a clear conversation and not losing the
connection.
