Is there a difference between a Class 10 phone (Razr V3x) and a class 12
phone (krazr) on tethering speeds to a laptop.  I currently have a
Blackberry Pearl and I am not sure what class it is (i guess class 10) but
it gets a good connection where i live.  No there is no 3G in my area and no
i an not able to get DSL or cable and the laptop card does not work but at
dial up speeds (46kbps).  I am trying to decide on whether to get the
tethering on my Blackberry or get an additional line and a good class 10 or
12 phone.  Thank for any advice.

Class 12 is faster than Class 10 on upload, but not on download.

Your Blackberry Pearl is EDGE Class 10 and you are not going to see a
noticable difference between the two classes. Maybe at best twice the
speed of dial up, but that is a vast improvement over dialup. Just be
careful on which data plan you choose. Make sure that you have a plan
that covers tethering the phone to a notebook or you could see a phone
bill that would give you a heart attack.

Anyway good luck on the choices but I would stick with your blackberry
until such time they deploy HSPDA/3G then your problems will be
solved.

Have a good one.
