Notes on 8525 extremely slow

I've recently purchased an 8525 and have just sync'd with Outlook. I
(unfortunately?) have about 700 Notes in Outlook.

After the sync I find any sort of "note processing" on the 8525 EXTREMELY
slow, e.g. just trying to view the list of Notes seems to take a couple of
minutes to display the list. Open a note goes quickly but closing it again
causes a long pause while the list of notes is regenerated.

Is there a work around for having a large number of Notes?

Daniel,

That's a lot of Notes. Mobile 5 has a memory situation, you don't shut off
programs when you stop, they are only in the background. You will see this
if you monitor your program memory. Periodically you will either have to
manually purge your memory or just reboot. A  'soft reset' clears the mobile
unit. You should get normal operational speed back.

Curious about why the camera takes a long time to reset, I deleted a 300MB
audio file on my micro-SD card today. That seemed to help the performance. I
loaded several maps afterwards that seem to respond fine.

If you research SD cards, there are different performance ratings available.
The cheaper/slower cards receive a lower rating. I'm wondering if a higher
transfer rated micro-SD card would assist your notes retrieval.

Are your notes stored to the micro-SD?

That's a lot of notes that have to be completely translated from one
format on the ppc (individual PWI files--a form of RTF) to another on
the pc (Outlook imbedded). You might want to consider moving your notes
to a dedicated notes application or a database--something that uses the
same format on both platforms and just needs to be copied during sync
not completely reformatted. One such is hpcnotes at:

Even Pocket Word documents would be less overhead.

Daniel, Jud is right in this instance. You are converting a large
amount of Notes on the PPC which is going to cause a noticible delay.
Getting he dedicated app will solve the issue but I have not tested
the one his has listed. Looking at it looks like it will do everything
you need.
