Samsung SGH A707 - Formatting a microSD

I just purchased the SGH-A707 from Cingular.  They also gave me a SanDisk
512MB microSD/TransFlash Memory Card to use in the phone.  I plan to use
it for music and pictures.

When I put the card in the phone, and then turn the phone on, and go to
music, the display says "Initializing..." at the top and also gives me a
message that the format is not recognized, and do I want to reformat.  I
say "Yes", but I still get the same message.

I took the microSD card out of the phone and connected it to an SD reader
and to my Windows XP PC.  I copied an mp3 song to the card, and was able
to play the song back on my comuter from the card.

I put the card in the phone, turned on the phone, and went to music, but
I get the same "unrecognized format" message.

What's do I do.

Thank you.

Seems this is quite common, darn.

As a hack, I'd try rebooting the cell phone. After re-boot, insert the card;
format.

If it won't format try the backup phone to memory card to see if it's
working.

My cellular PDAs work better when data is copied from/to via ActiveSync. The
jpg photos seem to work okay when read in a WinXP card reader, but many of
the other files get garbaged.

My phone does this too.  What fixes it for me is to remove the memory
card and reinsert it at which point the SYNC will re-read the songs,
etc.  It's pretty annoying and I wonder if there is a way to make it
stop doing this.
