I hate voice response systems.
Is there a way to coerce the 611 system to go to a "press 1 for this,
press 2 for that" mode instead?

As do I.

Not that I'm aware of. I just try to confuse them enough to send you to
a live operator. I treat it like a game- how few nonsense responses gets
me to a live operator...
"what can we help you with?"
"Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!"
"I didn't understand your response... Please repeat..."
"Oomlaut!"
etc...

Me, too!

I find that sometimes briefly pressing "Zero", or
"Zero-Zero" will get me past the robotic voice to a live
staffer.
BTW, that little technic also works for many other voice
response systems.
Hope that helps. ---Juan

But I don't want to bother (or wait for) a human being; I'm perfectly
happy to use the automated system if I can navigate using keyins.
