Called 611 a while ago and found a new recording.

They say that they have upped the night start time
to 7PM (from 9PM) for all night and weekend customers.

So it will be an even 12/12 split.
7am to 7pm week day is peak.
7pm to 7am +weekends is off peak.

Effective to all current KIC customers.

This is interesting.  T-Mobile just extended weekends to include Friday.

I see some interesting things happening...

That's interesting that they do it for the prepaid customers, but they
won't do it for their real bread and butter customers on non-prepaid
plans.  I think that 7pm N&W would bring alot of new customers (and
keep alot who would switch on Nov. 24) to Cingular.

I think it has something to do with retention.
They can't really spend money for retention on prepaid wireless customers.
There isn't a solid target to aim their offers to.

So the easiest way is just to reduce the rate you charge them,
or give them other benefits directly.
Because, by nature, you have to treat them good, or they will leave!
There is no way of getting them under contract!

It is odd that this comes right before portability.
I didn't think that portability affected prepay customers.
But I guess we are wireless customers too.
That would mean I could take my prepay phone
number and take it with me. :-)

Given that T-Mobile has changed weekends to include Friday, I think
you'll see Cingular extend the 7pm night thing to everyone soon
enough--especially as November 24 nears.
