if you do not pass the credit check (att using itunes) do you get the option
on going prepay?  at one time it was a rumor, i wonder if it was ever
confirmed.

I've heard no. Friend called and asked and they said no. But don't
understand why. Why can't you Insert a pre-paid sim into it ? He never
looked Into It.

Traditionally, with Cingular, as long as you come with your own Cingular
enabled phone, they don't care how you obtained it or paid for it what your
credit situation is, they will sell you prepaid minutes all day long.

I was under the Impression that you buy the iphone, but to use it you have
to have it activated. That's where the two year plan comes in. Once you have
it turned on, you must commit to the 2 yr plan with data.

If you have already paid full price for the phone, what is the need for a
two year comittment?.   It's understandable that a lower price on the phone
needs to be subsidized by a two year plan, but that doesn't appear to be a
subsidized price they are getting for the iPhone.  What do you get back for
your two year committment?  Nothing.  What's wrong with this picture?
