Suggestion for phone

Looking to switch from Verizon to AT&T. Looking for a PDA phone. No
real preference of blackberry vs Windows mobile, although I think my
software options are less limited with a WM phone.

I'd like a camera phone, but not a necessity. I'd really like
GPS,that's a main factor. I'd like to be able to install an
application that allows me to configure what format to show, ie lat /
long, what datum, etc.

I think I've narrowed down my choice to the Blackjack II and the Q.
Prices online seem to be twice of mail order, so I'll probablyy go to
a retail store tomorrow and see what they can do. Would I have better
luck going to a 3rd party store (Parrot, etc) vs a AT&T owned store?

Any comments on the choice of phones? Would like to spend under $100,
but it seems most online shops as soon as I say no tethered data
package, the cost of the phone goes up $75 or more.

I'm in Fremont, CA if that helps (near Decoto and Fremont blvd.)

Costco now sells AT&T and there prices can't be beat. If you want the
package.

You might want to try craigslist, eBay. Buying it from a dealer your going
to be in a 2 year contract. I had a blackjack2 but returned it after it died
the 2nd day. Bought a used 750 Treo with WM6 and It works great. No
problems. But I've only Installed a few apps.

Another thing I did not like with the BJ2 was the jog dial.

Went to the only Costco near me with AT&T - and they only had 3 or 4
phones - no PDA / Smart Phones.

I think I'm now deciding between the BlackJack II and Q. I'd rather
buy from AT&T - looks like I can get the BlackJack II from Fry's for
$50.

Is the GPS on the BlackJack II real GPS - ie can I download / install
a GPS application and use that?

Thanks. :)

Costco sells the full line of phones on there website.
Nice package deals as well.

The one I got was the Tilt along with a leather case, car charger and
transferred my number so I would not lose my rollover for 249.99  After
rebates.

D'oh... Didn't even see the link on costco.com . Funny I was about to
give up on Costco.com and go to Fry's - the BlackJack II is $49 at
Fry's, and $99 at Costco - IF you buy just the phone. But if you go
with the 'package' of a phone, car charger, and headset, it's $79.

Perhaps I'll give Verizon a call and see if they'll offer me the
Verizon BlackJack II at $50 to match AT&T. :)

Have you tried the blackjack2 yet ? I returned mine due to battery life. It
would use a lot of battery. And the signal was bad at my house. I had a moto
razr L7 which got 4-5 bars of service. With the backjack2 it was 1 bar.
Maybe that's why the battery life was not so good. The other thing I did not
like was the thumb dial.

I've been told that AT&T company stores will match Costco. But Costco sends
it out fast and think I read they ship it 2nd day.

Nope, haven't tried the BlackJack II yet. Just ordered it today, yep 2
day shipping.

I hate dealing with the sales droids, and with Costco - err... well,
ordering through Costco, I don't have to deal with the store.

I have heard about the battery issue. We'll see if that's the case. I
also read they fixed the battery issue, so...

The Q9m is a very good PDA phone, better than the original Q.
Recommended.
