Hello There:

My 2 year contract with Cingular/AT&T cellular will expire in June 08, I was wondering if I cancel the service now, would

they make me pay for the 3 months missing until June 08?

I am hesitant to call to find out, the last two calls I did, (August 07, January 08) both times they offered me Fast Internet

connection which I said no and both times (?)they set me with the connection and it was a hassle to cancel it. I did complaint

about the "common practice" of the sales persons to set you with the service without you requesting but I doubt if they have

done anything about it.

Thank you in advance,

Lo

For reference, I am in south Florida.

Heh, if only.

More likely they'll charge you the contract's $175 cancellation fee.

Keep notes.  Get names of people you talk to.  Document dates.

You will adhere to the terms of the contract.  Do you have a copy of the
contract?

In all likelihood, you should simply pay the three months and get on
with your life.  Otherwise, you'll probably pay an 'early termination
fee' of $175 per line, which is more than those three months.

No, they would make you pay the entire termination fee, whatever it is,
$175 IIRC. Unlike Verizon, AT&T has not implemented a pro-rated
termination fee, even though they claim to be planning to follow Verizon
and offer pro-rating. So keep the service for three more months.

It's likely that the sales people have been instructed to do what they
did, and have also been told to deny that they have been to told to do this.

By the way, the proper group for this post is alt.cellular.attws, which
I am adding. In the future, please post all inquiries about wireless
from AT&T to alt.cellular.attws, since Cingular no longer exists.
