i just got wireles internet express activated on my plan, but it does not seem to work. what settings should i use? right now i am using the following settings: express homepage http://device.home session mode permament connection security on data bearer GPRS access point wap.cingular ip address 66.209.11.61 authentication type secure login type automatic user name WAP@CINGULARGPRS.COM password CINGULAR1 i have looked on the net and thse seem to be the settings that most people use. if i set the data bearer to GSM data, i have the following settings: dial up number : empty ip address: empty authentication type: normal data call type ISDN ( i can also select analog, what should i use?) data call speed 14400 (or should i use 9600?) login type automatic username CINGULAR1 password CINGULAR1 do you guys have these settings? i have a feeling that i should use the GPRS data connection because the GSM connection has a dial in number thanks andrew > i just got wireles internet express activated on my plan, but it does not > seem to work. what settings should i use? right now i am using the following [quoted text clipped - 29 lines] > thanks > andrew nevermind i got it working. anyone know of any good instant messaging programs that can interact with AIM?(that i can download over WAP) thanks again > i just got wireles internet express activated on my plan Can you go to any URL? Yes/No Does Cingular still use a "garden wall" portal? Yes/No Those two would be mutually exclusive. Couldn't say about Express but on Wireless Internet I can go to any URL (yes) -- there is no sign of any "garden wall" restrictions (no). I can't imagine Express being any different. I rememeber what AT&T had free access (but you still paid a very high data usage fee) for sites behind their garden wall, but for like $10 a month, you could have unfetted access beyond. Since I would only use it on my WAP'ed sites, I don't anticipate it costing too much, unlike my Sprint Vision which is unlimited. But considering I can go back to Cingular for almost half of what I'm paying Sprint, I could use effectively use Cingular's data usage for the same monthly cost. Figure on at least 3 Meg for a simple web site with a couple of pictures and several pages of text. You can kiss your A+ credit report gone real quick!. |
