Greetings,

I'm actually a happy Cingular customer in the Chicago burbs... and am
about ready to jump to a new phone from the venerable old Nokia
5165...which is working fine for me--I'd just like something smaller.
I'm enjoying mostly solid reception on the TDMA network and good
battery life...unlike the Motorola flip phone that I paid $150 or so
for 3-4 years ago that dropped a call 3-4 times within 2 miles of the
Cingular store...and I quickly brought it back and exchanged it for a
second unit that did the same thing...which I brought back and
exchanged for my $150 back and a free Nokia 5165. (I wrote my then-CEO
Chris Galvin's office a pointed letter as to why I couldn't be a good
Motorola employee and buy Motorola despite being willing to pay a $150
premium to do so....to no response. Shocking.)

Anyhoo, I would really like a flip phone this time, and I don't care
about camera or SMS, display, or who makes it.

Voice quality, RF performance (no drops) and battery life remain my
top of my priorities. I'd really like a flip modem, and something that
looks stylish and less utilitarian wouldn't hurt, but isn't a biggie
either (Translation: I am an engineer).

Which current Cingular models should I be focusing on in my search?

Thanks so much for any input or advice!

Best Regards,

There are no GAIT flip phones on the market and probably won't ever be any.

Your search will be pretty simple.  There isn't any GAIT flip phone
available whatsoever.  The only GAIT phones available (a Nokia and a
SONY) come in the candy bar form factor.

There are many GSM phones available, but the GSM network isn't near as
complete as the TDMA network
