Cingular in NYC?

Cingular has the better deal, but I get the impression that Verizon
has better service (reception, dead spots, etc.) in New York City.
Also, does Cingular use T-Mobile's network in New York City?
TIA for any comments/recommendations.

In the NYC area Cingular mooches off of T-Mobile's infrastructure. But
it's a friendly arrangement - T-Mobile does the same in part of Cingular's
California coverage.

So... you'll get the exact same performance whether you're signed up for
TM or Cingular.

WIth the disclosure that I'm a TM shareholder, I find their service in the
NYC region quite good.

Cingular uses T-Mobile in NYC and T-Mobile uses Cingular in Southern
CA. A shared spectrum deal made a number of years ago. But it is
rumored that T-Mobile callers in NYC get priority.
