No- the TTY/TDD adapter doesn't work that way- it doesn't provide a "phone
jack" for the TDD device. The device connects serially (IIRC) and the data is
carried digitally over the cell network. Nokia 's website describes the process
vaguely, and mentions only certain TTY/TDD units will work with the adapter.

Why not get a phone with an IR port? I take my trusty Nokia 8290 and connect
to the 'net with my Axim all over the country.

Thank you very much. I could not find much on the TTY/TTD connector so it
was unclear weather it was an analog or an digital type of connection. I
have a few days left to return my Nokia 3595 and may well do so.
What connection speeds do you get with the IR connection and the Axim?
Also, how closely do the two devices have to be lined up? I use the Axim
with the Dell keyboard and the IR window points upward when in the keyboard
cradle.
