Well my second time to call cingular and they were fast and solved my
problem. Got a new phone (new to me but used) and I wanted to swap with an
old phone I had on Cingular prepaid KIC. Called 611 and one of the first
thing I was given was a 1-866 number to call if I had a problem otherwise
customer service wasn't open after 9pm it was after midnite. So I called the
toll free number and they answered on the 3rd ring. After checking my info
(last 4-digits ss#), ESN was changed total call length less than 3 minutes.
I guess I caught them at the right time, new phone worked as soon as I hung
up, the IRDB was updated on my new phone in about 10 miuntes.

Why did you have to give them the last 4 digits of your social security
number? KIC does not do credit checks.

I have a post paid account as well , so they know a lot abt me, but I can't
think of a good reason to open a account with cash and a made up name, it
would just put me in the group the FBI looks at. This way anyone who looks
at my account can check anything they want. I did get a free $10 airtime
card in the mail that I wouldn't have got it my address was  bogus.

They wanted to be sure you were the account holder, not just someone with a
new phone looking for someone to bill it to.
