I have just acquired P900, after using Communicator for years
and finding it rather difficult to cope without keyboard, call/sms logs,
and many brilliant features Nokia had. Saying that, P900 is faster,
GPRS, Bluetooth, voice quality seem better too. Anyone sharing my
experience ?

Any links with more info and tips on P900 ?

Thanks,
Alex

Recommend Remote P800 for writing long msgs & texts with laptop on the road without WLAN or fixed LAN connection. Made calls & sent SMSs are there; haven't you found them? This msg is written on P900...

but that kills the whole idea of having pda/phone in one.
I could get gsm/wan/gprs card for my laptop and have all
that sorted.

ever tried to take notes with P900 on bright daylight using
built in virtual keyboard whilst on the call ?
now try the same with communicator - with decent keyboard,
with much louder volume on handsfree...

Look for the UIQ section there you will find a forum pretty much devoted to
P900 and P800

Well I use a Bluetooth headset and learnt to use the handwriting recognition quite well so notetakin while calling is quite an easy task for me to do. Writing long texts is something you need the keyboard for, though...

Hello Pete,

Thanks for understanding - I had phone for 4 days now and still can't
get a grip on messaging. Sending sms is major issue, like today, I was
in the car with friend, he was driving  - it was very hard to type anything
using virtual keyboard.
Going into sent sms folder - I see numbers, not names of people, very stupid
feature. To compare, 9210i, you type say 3 letters (say abc) and phone gives
you list of
all names starting with "abc", you scroll and chose one you want. In sent
items
you have complete date/time stamp and in logs you can see if the message was
delivered, no annoying change of delivery report and beeping when message is
received
on the other side.
I could go on forever, and this is probably not the right place - but I had
software updated
without any dramas, phone still locked 2 times in 4 days. Again, more
difficult to take the battery
off than in Nokia. Displays are well protected (when phone is closed).

So, I will probably part with my new "toy" (that's what I think P900 is -
everything under the
sun but only office readers) and go for ancient, slow and heavy 9210i :(

We can suggest to try Oxygen Phone Manager for Symbian phones (
http://www.opm-2.com ). It now has preliminary support for SonyEricsson P900
phone with IR connection and you can manage contacts, images and poly-tones,
using Oxygen Phone Manager for Symbian phones with P900.

Feel free to contact our technical support service directly, if you will
encounter any problems concerning program's functionality and/or
registration process!

I love the idea of the Communicator and would have bought one ages
ago if it supported GPRS.  IT STILL DOESN'T!  Why isn't Nokia
updating this great idea?

So I got a P800 last week.  Woohoo!
