T610 Sync to Outlook with Bluetooth (Belkin USB Adapter)

For all of you who have been desperately trying to sync your T610 or
T616 with bluetooth to your PC (Outlook), I believe I have found the
answers.  After about six hours of messing with this thing, I have
finally figured out how to get this done.  Here are things I noticed,
followed by what I believe the steps are to reproducing the situation
(I've been too scared to try to reproduce it  -- it works now and its
staying this way).

First off, I am using the Belkin USB Bluetooth Adapter.  It is a nice
small dongle with a suite of bluetooth tools.  I am using the software
that was supplied with the Belkin and am using the IrMC
Synchronization.

Here are my observations (with Contacts):
--When the contact books (in Outlook and on the Phone) are not the
same for your first sync, you get a "Bad OPEX response" error.

--When you empty your contact book on the phone and attempt to sync,
you get a "Synchronization complete" but no contacts are copied to the
phone.

--When you add a new contact to the outlook address book, that item is
synched to the phone

--BUT when you copy a contact from another folder in to the default
contact folder, the contact does not sync.

With this realized, here is my solution (for Contacts):
--Install the bluetooth adapter from scratch (if you already have it
installed, uninstall and reinstall).

--Setup a partnership with the phone, and apply AT LEAST the IrMC
Synchronization and OPEX Object Push with the phone. (If you want
other features, you can add those as well now).

--Configure IrMC to sync contacts (address book) and calendar to your
phone (if you want calendar). DO NOT SYNC YET.

--Use OPEX Object Push to copy all your contacts to your phone (your
phone contact list must be empty.  Delete all the entrys using the
"delete all" in the phone book options (the passcode is 0000 if you
haven't changed it).  If you have any entrys you want to copy to the
PC, send them over bluetooth prior to deleting.)

--Click to sync the phone and the computer (double click IrMC
Synchronization icon in My Bluetooth Places)

--This should be complete

I had no problem with calendar, but there are a few things I may need
to make note of:
--Make sure you don't have too many appointments -- it takes a long
time to sync.  Delete anything you don't need, and make sure
reoccuring events don't date back to the 80's or something (like some
birthdays that were in my calendar).  If they do, delete them.

--Interrupting and resyncing can cause confusion and mess up your
calendar and create dupicate copies.  Never inturrupt a sync unless it
is absolutely necissary.

Good luck syncing!  Hope this works for you all!

I too had a bit of trouble AFTER I messed around with my original install,
which messed things up.. it worked perfect out of the box (using Belkin
too). At this point I just turn on (enable) my Bluetooth on the phone and it
does an auto sync with the computer. This is real nice as if changes are
made to my phone list while I'm away from the computer, as soon as I enter
the room, it sync's up, copies the changes to the computer, and it's done..
(assuming I have B/T on in the phone when I enter the room).

*** For me, the KEY was going into My Bluetooth Places on your desktop and
running the wizard from there.. this enables the serial port, OBEX file
transfer (for phone files - pictures, sounds, midi ring tones)  and IrMC
sync.. Once this is done, my 2nd setup worked perfect too. Be sure to enable
AUTOSYNC if you want this function, and this is located on the taskbar, the
little grey phone, XTND Connect..

Me too, then I lost synch on both IR and BT, no phone or SIM in phone
monitor. Tried SW and driver upgrades, reinstalls all to no effect.

The answer finally for me was to power off the phone, remove battery then
let it reboot. All working fine now.
