I have an Ericsson T65 which I bought in New Zealand
In New Zealand we have a power supply that gives 240v at 50hz

I have experienced with another mobile phone, a siemens, taking it to Europe
and just using a plug adapter so that the charger (which presumably was
auto-switching) worked and charged the phone.

But looking at my charger for the T65 it says on it

input : 230-240V ~ 50Hz / 22ma
output: 4.5V 300ma

Does this mean that I can't just get a plug-style adapter if I was in Europe
(say the UK) and charge my phone??? Do I have to fork out for another
charger if I want to charge my phone in Europe???

(like the one half way down this page:

If so thats pretty damn short sighted of Ericsson - surely mobile phones are
often owned by people who travel and who might need to charge their phones
in a different country with a different power system! (like the Siemens one)

Voltage in Europe *is* 230 Volts. So don't bother.

True, it's only in the U.S. and Canada and in some asian countries that they
have 110V, I think. When I visited Montreal a couple of months ago, the
charger I brought with me from Sweden was not able to charge my T39m, since
it ranged from 230-240V, so I had to by a new one on site. It was not that
expensive, though, about 20 USD, I think it was for an original CST-13
SonyEricsson charger. Ironically, that one ranged from 100 to 240 volts, 150
mA, 50-60 Hz.

Oh right for some crazy reason I thought it was 110

So that means that I can pretty much bring most of my NZ small appliances
over (phone charger, some DC and AC adapters I have) and they should all run
in the UK fine as long as I have those plug-shape adapters??

What shape is your plug? I had a vague feeling that the NZ plug was similar
to the UK one. Check google before you buy any adapters
