Depends how it's set up: on Orange ones, the joystick-up just loads a
locally-stored xHTML page and starts the browser, so it's not really
_connecting_ until you click on one of the links on that page. I must admit,
I've had one for nearly a year now, and I haven't found this a problem;
occasionally I go _down_ rather than click _in_ when trying to invoke the
main menu, but that's about it. But no, I'm sure there are no menu settings
to change any of this. Admit it, Bella, you want a "Keyboard and Mouse"
panel in System Preferences, don't you ;-)

Erm, not on either my or partner's Orange T610s... Both of those instantly
get "Loading". Just the same as the top right side button.

Argh - thanks for helping me discover that! :-)

Actually, you've got a point there (tho I'm with Vodafone). I don't
think you get charged the moment it dials up - you have to download
something, AIUI. But still annoying.

I thought not... :-(

Now there's an idea - like a delay type thing. I suppose I could put
some Blue Tack just above the joystick. Might spoil the effect,
though... :-)

I can only get "left" to obey the first shortcut item, the rest are
permanant.

On my t610 on T-Mobile (US), up goes into contact list. Maybe if you could
find a repair shop that could flash it with straight-up Sony software (vs
hacked software your carrier had them install), it would change?
But then that stupid internet button on the top right is still there.

I had no idea this was possible. The SE site's knowledge base just isn't
working.

But not so connect-prone as the effing joystick...

I don't know if SE ever has the whole phone software on their site or not.
I have heard of independent authorized (or not) repair shops relaoding SE
software on other models to fix carrier-chosen "features."

True. I haven't actually had a problem with that side button.
