Does Windows recognise the phone as a device?
Do you have a firewall installed?

Assuming you are using Windows.

I found the following :-

That The Phone connectivity software does NOT work with McAfee VirusScan
7 Home edition (and/or firewall)

If you have a firewall (like Zone alarm), you must allow mRouter.exe full
local access - Internet Server access is not required, nor preferable IMHO.

After you get it working, of course, then you will find that it does not
sync Annual Recurring Events in Outlook.

Here it works with McAfee 7 Home edition.
However not with firewalls (unless you let the progs mentioned on disk2
to have access, like you said. Don't forget your "free" Windows firewall
in your connections to the internet or lan. Kill them too.
Outlook will sync if youre annual events are set to a timestamp (say
8.00-8.00 am) It will not sync when the annual events are set to whole
day.
