I have a T 39 which works well in marginal reception areas that more modern
phones have trouble with.
I understand that I can connect my laptop to the internet with it but I am very
unsure of how.
I can connect the phone either by data cable or bluetooth if I so equip my
laptop.
Which will give me the better connection ?
As I use aol can I just dialup the local number or do I need to load some
special software and use gprs ?       I have loads of minutes on Cingular and
would like to use them this way.
Can anyone advise me or point me to a website that can help ?

mant thanks,
Steve

Hello!

I don't know about Aol but some hints to connect in general:

1) I use bluetooth and it works very well. You need to pair both devices.
Then you should have a "DUN-Bluetooth Profile". There you set up you
connection to your Internet Provider. (I guess usually *99***X" as phone
number. X stands for the GPRS Profile you created on your T39 for
Internetconection).
There are some other things to configure - depending on your Internet
Provider (DNS, IP, Username, Password...)

If this is done - there should be a new conecction for Dial up Services at
you Windows. (I assume you use Windows). Double click it and you should be
online.
Sounds complicated, but it trully isn't.

2) cable should work as well. It won't consume as much energy as bluetooth
does.

3) you could also use Infrared. Just install a new standard modem. (If you
install the t39 software you can also select T39 Infrared Modem) and dieal
your GPRS number (*99***X) - finish

4) good luck, hope it helps. enjoy :)

5) you are right, T39 is a superb phone.
