After spending the whole day on the net, I solved this problem.  ALL my
Outlook items, including calender, contacts, notes, tasks sync now with no
data lost.....

Ok, great. How about sharing the secret?
By the way, odds are you do not sync Repeating Annual Events :-)

Good one, haven't checked yet, since the phone is new and I have not yet set
up any recurring events.  Here is the answer:  in sync station settings, ALL
the programms must be Outlook, especially the mail programme.  Even though
you might use something else as a mail programme, select Outlook on all
options.  For some reason this solved the problem for me.  Now I can sync
and all my calender items (not yet sure about  recurring ones though) sync.

Recurring items schould have a time stamp.
Sync only works for appointments.
