Hi over there,

just a short question:  I read the other day that the K700i can
store up to 500 entries in the internal address book.  Ok, 500
seems to be enough - but the author of this article pointed out
that _each_ detail of an entry (like private phone number, address,
job phone, fax etc.) will occupy one of these 500 slots (i. e. if
every entry has four numbers, you can store not more than 125
entries).

Is this really correct?

Hi et alii,

thus spoke fm <postmaster@127.0.0.1>:
[...K700i just 125 addresses with 4 numbers each]
>> Is this really correct?
>> Greets, Dirk
> Yes, it is.

Then K700i is dead.  :o/

Greets, Dirk - still feeling like being fooled.

So all of your contacts have 4 numbers each?

You can save 500 numbers in your phone. If your contacts only have 1
number each, you can save 500 addresses.

I have about 250 contacts in my phone. Some have 4 numbers, some have
only 1. Believe me, there's plenty of space.

And the 500-number-feature is the same since the R520.

This was just an example, to make clear what I mean.  To be more
precise:  I have 279 entries with 412 phone + fax numbers, 121
addrs, 78 organisation names, 84 email addresses and 25 URLs.
Makes 279 names with 720 attributes[1].  And - as I intend to
live a few more years - I plan to contact even more people in
the future.

Sorry, but for a so called business handy these 500 attributes
are nothing else than laughable.

Hard to say, but I don't believe you.  ;o)

Bad enough.  Especially if you take the 41 MB into account.
There is absolutely no reason for such a stupid limit.

Does the K700i sync the memo section from outlook contacts? Or only the
phone number fields?

If this is the case, with ~40MB of internal memory, it doesn't make sense to
have fixed memory partitioning. The same should apply to the number of SMSs
one can store. The situation is worse with DECT landline phones. I bought 3
Philips Onis handsets about 5 yrs ago - they have 40 number/name slots where
most only had 20. I had a look recently & many models /still/ only have 20!
The K700i should also not be liming the number of voice labels or the number
of entries in the Accept Calls list etc. At least SE phones can store
multiple numbers under one name unlike (most/all?) Motorola handsets.

Regards
