I know I tried with the built-in email client of the SE910i and I failed. I am
not sure I remember why exactly but the built-in mailer lacks a number of
necessary features for the connection. (Not only for this; I could not use it to
get to another emailer via IMAP, although, technically, it does have IMAP.)

My only solution was to get another email client. I installed ProfilMail, and
that worked with gmail without problems. Caveat: it costs around $25...
