What 850MHz?
Obviously you are using Rogers or some US Carrier, who have designed
their system for 850MHz, and then overlayed 1900MHz on it, which
explains why for you 850 is better..
Microcell has no 850 and designed the system for 1900. Yes, if you use
Rogers, 850 will most likely be better, but if you use Rogers, why are
you posting here?
I don't think there is any evidence that systems that were designed for
1900 from the ground up are any better or worse than 850

Most scientists would tend to disagree with you on this point. The lower a
frequency, the better it penetrates obstacles. So, 850Mhz definitely does
help out for bad reception, but there are other ways around this kind of
problem. A good trick Fido uses is to install signal repeaters to
artificially "penetrate" buildings and obstacles. Just needed to clarify
that.

The lower the frequency, the better to bend around or reflect off.
The higher the frequency, the better to penetrate through things.
Except for when the wavelenght is the same size at the water droplet, ie
microwave ovens.

actually my t616 is on rogers (fido model unlocked) and im using a t68i on
fido... i assumed the better reception on my rogers was due to the t616
having 850, i appologize if i have insulted you or fido by posting here even
though i also have a rogers sub as well as a fido sub

Umm, ya, if Fido HAD 850, it doesn't, therefore there is no point mentioning
it.
