Hi all. I just bought my first cell off ebay, a vtech fido phone, no sim
included.
I want to register it anonymously once I get a fido sim. How do I go about this?
Should I do it online, over a landline, or over the cell?
Will they ask for my real name and address, and will I have to make something
up?
If I give the phone to someone else after I have registered it, will there be
any complications I'll need to be aware of?
Thanks,
Bink

You buy a Sim and activate it online. Tell them any name/adress you want
but if they can't contact you you will not be aware of promptions they give
sometimes like free airtime to continue your account if it near expiration.
This happens twice to me with my prepaid account.
They not required by law to ask you real ID for prepaid. This is the case
in France and probably in a lot of countries. In France if you don't give
them your ID they inactivate the account in a month. This is for prevent
durgs dealers or terrorits to use it. This is stupid since they can use it
for a month and do their things and just buy aonther SIM after that.

Ok, thanks. What I need to known is the exact questions that will be asked on
the web form, so I can be prepared to fill them in. I may even have to call fido
to activate as I tried the web form and it won't work without a store # and
salesman # from the sticker on the box. My box has has these fields blank. I
should be able to get these #'s from a local fido store though, because they'd
get a comission or points or something.
I'm guessing the form will ask for postal code, name, address, date of birth.
They use some of this info to create access paswords or something. Will they ask
for my current home phone number? Will they use my address for confirmation, or
mailings. What happens when the mail is returned to sender bad address?
Inquiring minds whant to know?

If I remember the last time I activate a prepaid, I put in a store number
from a old fido box and any number for salesman. For the rest, yes if you
put in your adress/home phone they will use it for send you offers and
promo. I guess you can call them if you don't want these. another way is
to put false info. They will not cancel account or anything if you do that.
The only problem is when your card is not refill for 4 months and about to
expire, they will call you (on your home phone) to offer you free airtime.
