Why is it that Air Canada can be bailed out, but not Fido??

Fido was bailed out before when the bankers took over (I know I have a bad
memory but ...).

Because many people believe for whatever reason that their country
*should* have a national air carrier, so there is more sentiment behind
a bailout.

Why anyone cares whether or not their plane has their country's name in
the title is beyond me.
