I know that Rogers uses 850mhz. My question is can Fido users with a
capable phone use this frequency or is it still limited to Rogers
customers? I know many times my Fido phone all of the sudden switches
to the Rogers network. My current phone doesn't support 850mhz but I'm
getting a new unlocked one and I'm wondering whether I'm still good
with Fido or I should switch to Rogers.

If you pay the $5.00 for extended coverage, then I am sure you have access to
the Rogers 850 (as well as 1900) everywhere in its network.
If you do not pay for extended coverage, then it isn't clear to me what will
really happen. Remember that currently, the network is in a state of flux
where there is overlap between Fido and Rogers and until the integration is
complete and redundant towers shut down etc, we really won't know for sure.
But my guess is that within original Fido coverage areas, one would have
access to both 850 and 1900.

You will get the access to 850.
I am not paying any extra fees and I have netmonitor.
I am on 850 without probs.
