Siemens M55 on monthly.
I *was* on "expanded network".
Just tried {*#123#} - back on Fido basic!

Can I activate the expanded network from my cell
or do I need to call Fido.
Cell 611 offers no options to change network, via 611 or
manual set-up.

Suggestions appreciated.

Sarting Aug 3, all phones have expanded network activated. Usage while on
expanded network is billed at $0.25 per minute, by the second, and does not
use your monthly plan's minutes, UNLESS you subscribe to the $5.00 package for
access to rogers's expanded network.

Think if it as Rogers having 2 separate networks. One on the city, and one
outside of Fido's orginal coverage. YOu dial *#123# to find out on which of
the 2 networks you are on. And as a fido customer, you are billed $0.35 per
minute roaming fee when outside original fido coverage since you'll be roaming
on the expanded network.

BTW, Hawkesbury gets Fido Basic coverage. There was no Fido coverage there
before (far enough away from the 417 highway). So it looks as if the Fido
basic coverage definition has been generous in some instances.

I wonder if it goes by a group of cells instead of individual cells.
