When and why did fido stop the ability of  "111" delivery report? This
report would give true delivery status. If the receiving gsm phone was off
it would return a confirmation after the receiving phone was turned on and
msg received.

Thankyou

I'm kinda glad that's gone, since it never worked right.  It always sent
me "delivered" receipts, when I knew for a FACT the recipient hadn't
gotten the message.

You are glad it's gone, why,  you were not forced to use it. It was useless
when sending to non gem phones, the mug would always show delivered. with
gem it wasn't delivered until the phone received the msg.

I do not want to be provided with a service that doesn't work reliably,
whether I use it or not.

I used to use it a lot, until I realized just how unreliable it was.

Rogers doesn't support 111. They use *r*. The use is similar to 111
where it is placed in front of the message. 111 is more realible than
*r*.

My handset won't let me enter anything but digits * and # when entering
the SMS destination number. How does one generate an "r" on a Siemens
M55 ?

*r* goes before the msg text   " *r* get lost flanders"

Thanks. Seems to work. But the received message simply said that the SMS
"succeeded".  Will have to test this with a friend to make sure their
phone is off when I send the message to ensure that the "succeeded"
message is sent only once they turn their phone on and actually get the message.

BTW, 111 in front of destination number not only doesn't work, but your
SMS doesn't even get delivered and you get no error message.

111 or *r* is placed in front of the message -- the very first
characters you type in your message followed by your message. 111 is
not placed in front of the number.
