It's rubbish.

There is a known defect with that phone. The "no network" system you
describe is a good sign that phone is now suffering the problem.

I don't know the exact cause, but the problem will get worse and worse.

Sometimes twisting the body of the phone, or putting pressure on a certain
area will "bring it back" for a short while, but in the end it will no
longer pick up any signal.

I got alot of enjoyment out of smashing that phone against a concrete
floor.
