i've tried asking the customer service, and two retail outlets, but can't
get a solid or consistent answer.

the motorola k1 has menu language/interface options.  possibly english and
french, just like my Motorola PEBL.  but does thie k1 also have a chinese
(cantonese) menu language/interface option.  If it's not an option, can it
be programmed in?

i've tried asking friends but they've either gotten rid of theirs or never
had one.
