I got an older Nokia 6190 with the analogue surfboard, works great when I
need it but I have 1 question. Is the analogue board linked to the handset
or to the SIM card phone #. I ask this cause when I change the SIM card in
digital mode the phone works fine with the new SIM card phone # (of course).
But if I have the new SIM card in and add the analogue will that work too?
Or do I need to notify FIDO everytime I want to switch the phone # with the
analogue.
I want to know cause once I leave town and go to analogue, if it doesn't
work im screwed for the weekend. The service guy I called didn't even know
they have analogue roaming.
Thanks anyhow for some answers!

The analogue module has its "serial number" which is used to identify your
handset to Bell/Telus when in analogue mode. This number has to be registered
with Fido and linked to your account. (for instance, prepaid folks aren't
allowed to use analogue roaming).
Fido allows (or allowed) someone with a separate analogue phone to use that
phone as aFido phone roaming on Bell/telus. The phone had to be programmed
with the right parameters, and its electronic signature had to be entered in
the Fido databases to authoriza that phone (and link it to your account).
So the ESN seems to be the big key in connecting to the Bell network.
However, if you change your SIM card to one with a different number, you may
have to reprogram it to enter your first sim card's numbers in the NAM1.
*3001#12345# to enter into the programming mode.
Check out the NAM1 settings with your real SIM card, then check the same with
the second card. Not sure if the NAM settings in that mode are for the digital
or analogue portion of the phone. (NAM is terminology that was used for
analogue phones).

The analogue module is linked to the SIM card. If/when you get an
analogue module Fido will ask for the ESN on the analogue module and
then they'll send a SIM update to allow you to use it with analogue
when appropriate.
