Want to buy T68i

Kevin - 25 Sep 2003 21:00 GMT Hi,
I'm interested in getting a Sony Ericcson T68i. The local shops have it for $400 cash purchase, but I'm not eligible for a handset upgrade credit yet since I only recently got a handset (last year when my phone was stolen).
Rather than pay full price, is there a reliable place I could get one cheaper? How much do you think I could get it for used from someone?
Thanks all.

The price is right... but I don't know anything about this vendor. No store front, address, etc. Broken links and a forum that was started in October 2000 yet has no posts.
Can anyone tell me anything about this site?
Thanks again..
Edward S - 27 Sep 2003 05:51 GMT This one should be reliable... as per posters on this NG. Do a search.

The vendor has a Toronto address -- if you live in the area, you can pick it up. I cannot vouch for the vendor, since I have not made any purchases from him.
I can vouch for www.expansys.us -- they sell the T68i for approx. $272 Cdn. However, it'll cost almost $50 Cdn for shipping (brokerage included) from Bloomington Illinois.

They have a Toronto phone number, but no physical address. At least, not one that's available to customers. I just called them, and was told that ordering is phone and web-based only, and the purchases are shipped.
They do, however, accept credit card, certified cheque, money order and C.O.D. as payment methods, so that's a bonus. And you can't really beat the price on the T68i, I don't think.

I've seen their address (somewhere on Spadina Ave.) on the website in the past but, obviously, they have decided to remove it. It's unfortunate that they will no longer let you purchase a phone in person (I had read on Howards Forums that this vendor would even let you try out the phone first) -- this would be enough for me to want to pass on them.

As for the other response: Yes, I like the S55 too, but the application I have in mind specifically requires a Sony-Ericsson bluetooth phone, and I can't afford the T610.

Huh? The S55 is a bluetooth phone. However, transferring out calls from the handset to a SE bluetooth headset was a pain in the neck (I believe the SE T610 also had similar problems). I'm hoping that the new SE HBH-65 (soon to be released) will correct that.

I especially like the idea of proximity detection.... have my computer start playing my music or something when I walk in the room... too cool ;)
