I have an older Motorola (7930??) triband.  Nice phone works well but
there's a line missing on the display.  Right across the middle.
I read a while back that this was a common problem and that FIDO will fix
it.  Any additona info on this?
Thanks

FIDO carried the L7089, is that the one you mean.

If yes, I am sure a Fido Tech can fix it, but since your phone is
obviously out of warranty you will probably have to pay.

Call first before you go down there.

Ya, it's typically because the rubber conductive strip the connects
the circuit board to the LCD has shifted a bit or has some gunge at
the contact point.

It's not terribly hard to fix - if you are technically minded, you can
do it yourself, just take the phone apart, remove the LCD, clean the
contact areas with isopropyl alcohol (NOT RUBBING ALCOHOL!), let dry
and re-assemble.

It can be a bit fiddly though as it involves dealing with some very
small and lose-able parts that have to be put back together properly.

Fido can easily do it for you, but may charge you depending on the age
of the phone.  If you are worried about breaking the phone if you do
it yourself, probably best to leave it for the techs.
