Text message spam -- how can I prevent?

I've started getting annoying text message advertisements lately
and I wonder if there is any way to stop them? I don't use the text message
service and I've never cared that it was there but now I'm being forced to
pay to read ads. It's ridiculous.

Register on fido.ca web site. Then you can find there settings about SMS
settings.
Or try to call Fido customer service. I am sure they can help you.
(I assume you are on fido, aren't you?)
